I think nearly everybody got to do something cool this weekend. Lauren’s in Atlanta, Jason just got back from Tennesee, Nagle and Sean went to MegaCon (comic book convention) in Florida. What did I do today? I tutored for about 3 hours, then came home, ate bad pizza and have been playing DoD and CS ever since. I might be having fun if my computer would stop crashing. I know it’s an issue with the Asus P5A but there’s no documentation for it. Jason (jtn) and I have had the same problem for years, after about 15 minutes, the entire machine will reboot for no apparent reason. It use to be worse back when I had the TNT2 in there. It was nearly unplayable. I dunno. I’m bored with the games already. Maybe I go to Barnes & Noble and sit there and drink coffee for a few hours. Then again… nah, that’s no fun either. I’m bored. Plain and simple. Any suggestions?

Woo… stuffage. From the sounds of it, the boys are already hot on the trail of a posting/database system that will work for us. I’d personally like it as customizable as humanly possible (of course) but anything that works will be suficiant. The main features I’m looking for would be:
1) Easy administrative control
2) Ease of posting (see #1)
3) Customizable posting options
4) Function and useful extras (comments, polls, archives etc)
5) Easy to design around.
I guess I just want somthing that can will allow all of us to update easily and be easy to design around. (ie: the system controls the content and doesn’t dictate design). Who knows. I think I’ll leave this one up to Chip and Chris, they have far more experience in programming matters than I do. I know they’ll come up with something cool, they always do.
As for the rest of my day, pretty normal so far. I had my hair cut at noon. The stylist took far to much off. I asked for merely a shorter version of what I had. What I got was one of the shortest haircuts of my life. It’s not “bad”, I just don’t like it. It’s a big change from the “hair to the shoulders” I had going on. The back was brought up to about ear level and it was shortened all around. Then she made some mistake (which I couldn’t see) and said she had to blend it in, or something like that. That of course ment more hair coming off. I guess I should have been more specific with her, but I didn’t exactly have any suggestions as far as a style went (I wanted something new) so I guess it’s my own fault. On a scale of “happiness” I would be “distainful or mildly displeased”. The haircut looks good, just on someone other than me. Whatever. It’s only hair, it grows back…

Well, it’s Thursday… barely. It’s also bedtime, at least it will be when I finish writting this. Theres a bunch of random stuff going on today. I’ve got a hair appointment at 12, which is very unlike me. A: being up before 12 and B: getting a haircut. As most of you know and/or remember, I’ve been growing the hair “out” for quite a bit, both to the dismay of my parents and to the delight of Lauren. Well, there comes a time when you just feel like a change, and this would be such a time. I don’t quite know what I’m looking for as far as a new “style” but the hairdresser (Lauren’s hairdresser) assures Lauren that “it’ll be cool” so I’m hopeful. After that I have class at 3 in which I think we’ll be watching a movie on Miles Davis, which is always cool.
As for the rest of my weekend, it seems like I’ll be the only person around on Friday. Pete usually works, Jason is driving all the way to Tennesee and the Weezer and Saves the Day show, Lauren is driving to Atlanta to go to the design Expo Center and other spots of interest to interior designers. Which leaves me here. I wonder if Nagle is doing anything.
Speaking of Nagle, according to the last few journal comments, it seems like he would like to get on board with blogproject.com, which is awesome. Which brings us to a grand total of 4 so far (Chris, Chip, Nagle and myself) who would be contributing. This should rawk once we get it going. Which reminds me, I should read the PHPNuke documentation and figure out if it’s useful, maybe pass it on to Chip for him to have a look at. Then, maybe once I get my own site squared away, take a crack at a BP.com site design. But once I get a layout that I like I’ll need a little help with input and such as to what “content” goes where. But that’s a far stretch down the road I suppose.
I think I’m also going to shoot my portrait assignment this weekend. I’m hoping to get Lauren and her three roommates all at once. They always wanted a group portrait, so I figure this will brighten their day as well as fulfill my assignment. Hopefully I can get them all together on Sunday. That way I won’t have to run around and try and get it done next week.
*yawn*
ok, time for bed.

Chris emailed me last night and asked about my general ideas as far as blogproject.com is concerned. I didn’t have time to email him back (but I will this afternoon) but I figured I’d bounce a few ideas around here before hand. Both Chris and I feel that it shouldn’t be an extension of our personal journals. That’s been done before. We’re also leaning toward a more informative oriented site. My idea, originally, was something between slashdot, usr-bin-grl and a movie/music/program review site. I figure that we’re good at being opinionated and maybe we can share a bit of that. Give witty and insiteful commentary on news items, interesting sites, etc as well as give honest and at times sarcastic reviews of movies, music and software. I also feel that there should be some interaction between us (Chris, myself and whoever else comes on board) and the readers. A comment/discussion board is an obvious way to go, but we have to remember that it would require a lot of time. Take a look at deviantart.com, I think they do it well, the comment systems I mean. Personaly, I loath full blown discussion boards and forum, I think they’re silly and 99% imature postings. So, if it can be avoided, I would vote for just a comment system and not a forum, but thats just me. I guess the easiest way to see what I’m getting at would be some examples. Now, I’m not saying that we should copy anyones format. Heck no. I’m just using these as examples of good, interesting sites that have information as well as opinions, which I think should be the ultimate goal.
Deviant Art
DMusic
Melonn
Slashdot
The Filthy Critic
usr/bin/grl
That’s it. It’s class time now. Chris, I’ll talk to you later and I promise I’ll actually be on AIM when I’m at my computer tonight. Later.
