well… shit on me… now

well… shit on me… now I’m kind of happy I didn’t expand my DVD collection 100 fold…

“The world’s Big Nine electronics companies have swallowed corporate pride and agreed on a single standard and name – Blu-Ray – for the next generation video and computer optical disc. Although good for the consumer, they are putting the future of their fledgling recordable DVD systems in jeopardy.

Blu-Ray is backed by Hitachi, LG, Matsushita (Panasonic), Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and Thomson. Only Toshiba, the main inventor of DVD, and JVC, which has a vested interest in VHS, are missing.

The new format will use a blue laser for recording and playback. A single-sided 12 centimetre Blu-Ray disc stores 27GB of computer data, records 13 hours of broadcast TV or holds 2 hours of High Definitioneo.

Prototypes already exist, and have been demonstrated by Philips, Sony and Panasonic. Licensing for manufacture begins within a couple of months and the first Blu-Ray recorders could go on sale next year.

Whee… another fun filled day

Whee… another fun filled day of fun… or something like that. Actually, I’m just going to class and then to Lauren’s for lasagna (sp?). But for some reason I feel pretty good today. I also got things accomplished last night. I’m 95% done on a new splash intro page for the site. There really wasn’t any reason to do one, but I figured I might as well do something cool that I can turn into Flash later. So, I did kind of a mock window with a funky little design inside it. I figure when I go to make it Flash, I can have the design move around in the background and the buttons will highlight and do something nifty. But, as it stands now it’s pretty cool. I got some advice from Nagle on it last night and I’ll be making some tweaks to it tonight. So, look for the new splash later this evening.

carry on.

Well. I’m off to studio.

Well. I’m off to studio. Jason says that this kids named Adam (who a royal jackass) wanted to take studio pictures of him at 2:30. I find this funny since I have class at three and there isn’t enough equipment to go around as it is. If he thinks he can use equipment that our class needs durring class time, he’s very mistaken. I hate snobby arrogance. Not that I really care, my film is shot anyway, but for the sake of others in my class I willing to “say something” should I need to. Oh well. After class I’m going to go hangout over Lauren’s for a bit. She has a lot of homework this week so maybe I’ll offer to make dinner for us so she can work. I feel bad that she has all these projects and I don’t. It’s not that I’m slacking off, it’s just been an easy semester. Either way, any time I get to spend with her is time well spent. So, I’m off.

Later.

Nifty. I’ve started a war

Nifty. I’ve started a war among neighbors. Why? Because someone was parked in my spot. By “my spot” I mean the spot marked for our apartment, the only one that we get to have. There are other spots for other people, but someone decided not to bother with formality and parked in ours. So, coming home at 11:30 tonight, I turned towards what is usually an empty spot, only to find it occupied. I thought this was a bit strange so I backed up and looked at the number painted on the ground, thinking maybe I had pulled towards someone else’s spot by mistake. I didn’t. A tad aggrivated I parked on the other side of the complex, walked all the way to my apartment and proceeded to call the office of the apartment complex, who in turn called an officer from the Sheriff’s Dept who called a tow truck. The tow truck just arrived and their putting the car onto the back of it now. I was actually just outside talking to the officer and he said that it was the third car he towed tonight. There must be a party going on or something. So, maybe it isn’t one of my neghbors and just some random idiot. Screw’em either way. I’m tired and don’t need to put up with this. So, now I’ve got to wait until the tow truck leaves so I can move my car into my spot. Which I’m a little hesitant to do since I fear the wraith of others. But, you know what, I’m done being scared of shit like that. They did something stupid. Fuck’em.

Well. It’s Sunday. Which means

Well. It’s Sunday. Which means it’s homework day. I already have half of my digital homework done (the nav bar above) but I still need an intro-ish, slice-image thingy. I’m still not to clear on “why” I need one, just that its part of the assignment. I’ll give it a whril I suppose. I’m also getting my Studio work out of the way early. I’m having a photo shoot tonight so that I won’t have to tomorrow. I may shoot a roll tomorrow as well, just incase something weird happens (like film getting ruined) but I doubt that will happen (*knocks on wood*). The shoot isn’t until 6 (setup at 5) so I have a little time to think up ideas for it. Usually my “inspiration” comes when I’m actually in the studio, but there’s always a chance I’ll think of something cool. So, other than that, my only plans are for lunch at some point, a shower shortly following, perhaps some video games, and that’s it.

That is all.
