Stuffage. Tonight is hockey night and I’m happy. I don’t have much to do until then. I should be dressed and I should be bringing a form downtown to the Bursars Office, but that would require the sort of person who excerts effort as well as being dressed and as I’ve just mentioned, I’m neither of those things. So, I’m sitting here in my PJs, not doing much of anything. I just played a little Tetris (clone) thanks to Chris’ roommate, the fish. I think I’ll make a skin for it to show my appreciation for his coding skillz.
I think I’m going to go make lunch. I wish I had some pasta sauce, then I could make the jumbo stuffed shells that I have in my freezer. Or, maybe not, because that would require effort as well… but it would make my tummy happy… I’m indecisive today, can’t you tell?

WOOT! Guess who’s a new Valve beta tester? ME!!! I got my confirmation last night and my download today. I get to check out the new versions of CS, HL, TFC and DMC. I’m happy!!! Now, if only my cable modem wasn’t getting 2k/sec at the moment, then I’d be playing like there’s no tomorrow. I can’t wait till they straiten out the connection and I can have a look at the new maps.

Why on earth do I feel the need to get to my 9am class early? Is it that I have nothing better to do at 9am? Certainly not, sleep is always an option. Well, what is it? Parking my friends, parking. You see, Savannah, while only being a medium sized city (about the size of Manchester or Worchester) they’ve already used up any available empty lot for private parking. Resturants own the lots next to them, so do banks, office buildings etc. So, when SCAD started buying buildings in the 70’s, they unfortunatly neglected to buy buildings that included the lots next to them. Let me give you an example. Downtown, not including the new dorms, there are 4 academic buildings and a 2 dorms. Can you guys how many parking lots we have. 1 for the large dorm, two small little ones (about 30 cars wide) for the “over flow” and a dirt lot in a construction zone that we’re not sure if we can park in but do anyway. Now, you have to realize that there are 500+ students in the large dorm, 30+ in the small one then hundreds of students all day long going to the academic buildings. Do the math. That’s not a good number you’re getting are you? Welcome to the SCAD parking problem. Take all of the problems people have parking in a large city (meters, traffic etc) and then throw a medium sized college into the middle and give everyone no additional parking whatsoever. So, the answer to the original question is that I get to class early so I can steal a parking spot from some stupid little freshmen. Then I come here and write something mindless and rambling onto my website. Oh well. The teacher is talking at this point, I suppose I should be paying attention. Later.

And our story continues…
Not really, I just couldn’t think of an interesting opening line this time. Not that the others have been particularly meaningful, or “good” as some people would point out, but I’ve got a personal style damnit, really I do. I have no friggin’ clue what it is, but it must be something interesting. Continuing on I suppose, towards another mildly interesting description of my day. Personally, I’m getting a little bored with stories about “my day”. Everyone knows the routine by now. I have classes, two of them are easy, one is hard. Let’s move on. Perhaps I’ll start discussing opinions on world events, personal thoughts, speculations about society… or perhaps none of that will happen and I’m just really full of shit at the moment. You be the judge. Perhaps I need a literary style like that of CW from PA. You know, the ability to turn a brief escapade with carrot cake into a page and a half adventure. Maybe I’ll take that creative writing class after all.
As for my worldly opinions, tonight we’ll start with southern culture. More precisely, my neighbors. Now, to fully understand where I’m coming from, I’ll have to give you a brief description of where I live. My apartment is situated horizontally across the backs of two other apartments. This creates a large C or U shape depending on how you look at it. Two apartments in one direction, mine in the other with a courtyard in the middle. Now, all three apartments are two story condos and I have the only room that faces the courtyard on the inside, hence, the only window into the courtyard as well. So, now that you know how everything is set up, I can continue.
This evening, it seems the residents of the apartment to my left are having a small domestic disturbance. This wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary for most people who live in the south. I’m sure most everyone has been witness to some sort of marriage dispute before. I just seems to happen more often here in the south. Things up north are very hidden socially and the people are very plastic sometimes. Not here however. So, my neighbors are having “issues” at the moment and I’m heavily considering calling the police because there’s a hefty amount of yelling and glass throwing (I’m guessing). Unfortunately, the couple seems to have the need to have this “discussion” in the courtyard itself rather than their home. Perhaps they just wanted to share. While I do appreciate their gesture, I’d really like them to shut the hell up.
Of course, this raises other issues such as “should I say anything?” Which, I’ve decided the answer to is a resounding “no.” Why? Because I’m a wuss. Ever since a certain incident at a Texaco station, I’ve been shying away from confrontation. I either need everyone who annoys me to be small and child like, or I just don’t need anyone to annoy me. It always seems that “angry” people are much larger than me and therefor could beat me into a senseless pulp. How unfortunate that I didn’t inherent my grandfather’s height. My brother did. I did not. Unfortunate indeed.
So, this leaves me sitting here typing, listening to yelling, wishing I was a larger individual which would grant me the opportunity to shout “shut the hell up” out my window. I am not, and so I will not. Such is life. I’ve learned to deal.
Now that I’ve mentioned all that, I suppose you might like to hear mention of my afternoon. Maybe? Well, you’re going to get it anyway.
Actually, this afternoon was quite good. Lauren completely surprised me with both dinner and presents. I didn’t deserve any of that, but she got them for me anyway. Sometimes she floors me with the smallest things she does. Anyway. She got me a set of blue martini classes from Pier 1 along with a peach tea scented candle and a candle holder. They’re both really cool. Then we went and got something to eat at Mellow Mushroom, this pizza and calzone place around the corner. It was quite tasty and now I feel tired as if I had just finished Thanksgiving dinner. Yum.
That is all.

Well, I’m just chillin’, waiting for both FedEx and UPS to show up. I’ve got my light meter, some film, and a history book that are supposed to be here today.
In other randomness, the cable modem is still not working for Jason and Pete. I feel kind of bad, but I can’t do anything about it. As for my connection, it’s slowly getting better. I’m still getting 300ms ping times to things like Yahoo and CNN but it’s certainly better than the 1000ms+ times I was getting just yesterday. Hopefully they’ll have everything straitened out soon. Luckily we’re on the Abercorn OTN. Two blocks over starts the Willmington OTN and they haven’t even gotten it up and working yet. Sucks to be them.
I had an interesting afternoon yesterday. I made it home, to the store and back to class in time. I even had all my objects painted and ready to go, which is more than I can say for half the class. So, I got to Studio a few minutes early, starting grabbing equipment and set up my set by the time the rest of the class arrived. Stupid me. The teacher saw my set up and gathered everyone around for a nice little “this is how you do it” demo. Which is good because it confirmed that I knew what I was doing, but was bad because now everyone knows that I know what to do and has desided to ask me questions every two seconds. You’d be surprised as to how many people don’t know how to put a 650 on a CK stand (putting a large light on a pole for you non-photo people). It’s really simple. I’m sure any of you could figure it out. There’s a hole in the bottom of the light, and a connection piece at the top of the stand. It doesn’t take a genius to guess that perhaps the connector goes in the hole.
So, that went well. I got my shot and all is well. Afterwards I drove Lauren out to the island for her MOPS meeting. I stuck around the island because it wasn’t worth the time and trouble to drive back home, then back to the island. So, I sat in my car and listened to the radio. At one point I was nearly floored when I heard ” iio – Rapture (radio edit) ” come on. I had the radio on SCAN and it stopped at a random rap station, but for some reason, once in a blue moon, they play a “dance” track. I really hate that term. “Dance” sounds like it should be one some collection of C&C Music Factory tracks from the 80’s. It’s Techno damnit. Or even “electronic music”, that’s fine. Or you can get into the sub catagories like Trance, D&B, Jungle, etc. But not “dance”. Anything but that. Yes, people do dance to it, but use the proper name please. Don’t use some term that American marketing idiots were kicking around 20 years ago, it’s insulting.
Anyway. I’m still waiting for my packages. I guess it’s time to have some lunch. Hot Pocket here I come. Later.
