Arg. 9am sucks. Actually, to be more precise, 7:30am sucks. I hate getting up that early. And even then, that’s my best attempt to sleep as much as possible. I should be getting up at 7. I get up at 7:30, shower breifly, cram toast into my face before starting to drive downtown by 8 so I can be there by 8:30 and fight for parking for my 9am class. See, the building that my major is in, doesn’t have it’s own parking lot. Which means I have to fight buisness men, tourists and other students for parking. Arg. Why would anyone schedule a class at 9am for an art school in the first place. The only students that possibly might enjoy being up that early would be those Arch. or History majors. The rest of us are self-proclaimed slackers and deserve a good nights rest. By good I mean at least 10 hours and usually starting at 1am. Ok, enough about that.

I love being able to get into my Digital class early. Since I’m up for my 9am, I may as well make the most of it by being at my 12 early… which is easy since it’s in the same building. So, around 11:30, I can be in the (this) lab hanging out and trying to wake up, a full half-hour before most of the other people. That means I get to browse the web in peace. Always a good thing. Ok, I’ve got to fiddle with some *.psd’s before class. Later.

Current Mood: Tired, as always

Got my package from B&H

Got my package from B&H yesterday. it was smashed to hell and so I need to return some of the things I ordered. When there’s a gaping hole in a box of light sensitive material, it’s not a good thing.

In Color class, I learned I was actually ahead of the game and had the first project done about a week early. Go me! In Digital class, I became “that guy”. You know, the guy that people ask questions of when they can’t figure it out on their own. “how do I make this brighter?”, “where’s the layer controls?” etc. Just because I’m the only kid in the class who’s used Photoshop shouldn’t mean I become an unpaid teacher-assistant. I don’t mind helping out, not in the least, but when someone raises their hand and asks you to come over and help them, that’s too much.

Also, you’ve got to check out the Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer Test. It’s lots of fun. This should be a kick ass game when it comes out around x-mas. Check out the links on Blues News since I forgot’em.

The new version of Counter Strike will be out tomorrow. It’ll feature new voice features, real time chatting with team-mates, new spectator modes, new maps and other cool stuff. Make sure you grab that tomorrow.

Thats about it. I had 3D class today and started to realize how simple it’s going to be. The teacher actually said the following:

“ok, for next class, work on your wire sculptures, but don’t worry it they’re not done, just work on’em for Monday, but if they’re not done Monday, don’t worry, have’em for Wednesday, or even after the weekend, don’t worry about it.”

Damn! I don’t quite know what to do with myself, I’ve never had deadlines that weren’t actually deadlines. I’m going to have it done for Monday, but still, that’s almost a little too leanient. Not that I’m complaining.

Current Mood: not to shabby.

Randomness. I’m in the digital

Randomness.

I’m in the digital photoloab and it’s a half-hour before class… which means some web surfing is in order. But, before that, random bits of things.

Does anyone remember the “red” hair thing I desided to do freshman year? Well, its going to make a come back I think. I’ve gotten bored with this ol’ head of hair again and I think red is going to be the way to go. And for those of you who don’t remember, it’s was very very red. Not solid, “fire engine” red, but the darkest red that looks semi-natural, ie: dark chestnut/auburn. Its kinda cool.

Also, last night after some fuss, we got the network connection between Pete’s computer and my own working. Now there will be nothing stoping the UT fests, Counter-Strike marathons or other network games of yester-year.

Also, has anyone ever had Hot Pocket heartburn? Seriously. I think the human body, after 6 “pockets” or so, rejects the microwavable goodness that is a Hot Pocket. I had the worst stomach ache last night and I think it’s because of my favorite snack food. Matt must learn moderation.

I’ve also got to mention the kick ass scanners we have up here in the lab. The Nikon LS-1000 negative scanner is a piece of art. High resolutions of 2700dpi make even shitty negatives look good… this thing is going to save my ass, I can tell.

Ok, I’m very very sleepy, so I’m probably going to take a nap after class, but after that, I’ll probably go hang with my girl. After that, who knows. Ok, it’s nearly class time. Later.

Current Mood: Sleepy

Thanks go to Chris for

Thanks go to Chris for sending me this link. I don’t quite know how I’d react in a situation like that. Half of me would be hoping I had enough film, the other half would be sitting on the ground balling his eyes out. I guess in moments like that you have to make a decision to either put your feelings in the back of your mind for a minute and do the job that you love, or to let that moment pass and make it more of an emotional thing and deal with your grief right then and there. I don’t know what I’d do, I’ve never wanted to think about it. But this week has made me start. I can only hope both me and my camera are up to the task, should I ever face anything like that.

Whoops, forgot to blog something

Whoops, forgot to blog something yesterday. Oh well, what can I say? I was busy. I took care of some photo homework, went to Sams Club with the boys and bought a microwave, shot 2 rolls of film & developed them, went and bought books and enough metal wire for my first 3D project, rented a few movies, and made brownies with Lauren. Very good brownies by the way. There was supposed to be a “tropical storm” or small hurrican coming through town last night… but I don’t think it even rained. At any rate, since the girls live downtown and I live uptown, I offered for them to stay out here. Well, when no rain came, it seemed kinda silly. We did rent “State & Main” a great little David Mamet film about a film crew shooting on location in VT. I think I remember them shutting down parts of the oval to film scenes from this, so I was constantly looking for Milford landmarks, of which I found a couple. At any rate, it was a very funny movie.

Ok, today I’m going to go down to the computer lab in the photo building and use their kick butt negative scanners. I’ve got to scan pictures for class and about a dozen for my aunt and uncle. Guys, if you’re reading this. I didn’t forget about you, I just couldn’t get to the negative scanners until classes started. Ok, I’m going to go have a Hot Pocket in my brand new microwave. Huzah!
