I’ve got the perfect project

I’ve got the perfect project for my programming buds. Well, maybe it’s not perfect, but it’s a good idea. It’s a simple database app that compares input to an existing database. The key here is that it generates that database based off existing files. For example, let’s say that I have 50 mp3s and I’m about to download number 51, but I’m trying to remember if I’ve downloaded it already. Why not type the name of the mp3, or maybe even a keyword or two, into this nifty program and it would look and see if I already had it. I know that sounds like a simple search tool, but what if the mp3s were no longer there. What if I already burnt them to a cd. I would need a program that could generate a “list” and save that list for comparison later. Maybe something like that already exsists, but I can’t find one, and I’m sick of spending three hours downloading an Essential Mix only to find out I have it on a CD that I burnt a year ago. So, Chris, Chip, any ideas?

Holy Sweet Zombie Jebus! I

Holy Sweet Zombie Jebus! I just finished downloading the Sasha and Diggers set from Miami last week… and I’m floored. I don’t think I’m capable of expressing how good this set it. It’s mind-numbing, simply massive. I’ve seen S&D live and this is possibly a better mix track wise. I’m sure if I had been amongst the club-goers I would still be recovering. Damn. Check your file sharing programs for it. NOW! If worst comes to worst, grab it at http://d2k.dedserver.org/index2.php. I’m going to go be euphoric now. Woot!

Woot. Randomness to talk about

Woot. Randomness to talk about tonight. First of all, a little file sharing goodness for everyone. If you’re using WinMX (and I highly suggest you do) check out this nifty little program. It’s called NapiMX. It adds tons of OpenNap and P2P servers to your WinMX server list. By default there’s only one server listed in the WinMX server list, so this is a great little find. I went from one server with about 100,000 users to 50-60 servers with obviously many more users. Also, along the same lines, check out ZeroPaid. It’s a cool little site with links and downloads for hundreds of file-sharing programs.

Also, if you have file sharing programs that use ads or have pop-ups, you might want to check out this. It’s actually a link off of Kazaa Lite’s site(see “Hosts List” in the links along the top), but it’s a good trick that can work for just about anything. It involves editing your Windows “HOST file” and redirecting known ad services to a different IP address, namely yours, hense negating the connection and not downloading any ads.

I also got a great deal of printing done today, which makes me very happy. I also had the pleasure of listing to some brilliant music that I hadn’t listening to in quite a while. I highly recommend finding a copy (possibly even using an afor-mentioned file sharing program) of Carl Cox – Essential Mix from Spaze (ibiza) on August 13th 2000 and Timo Maas – Essential Mix on 5-17-01. Those are directed at my bud Chris. Go get’em. They rawk 🙂

Welp. Movies were good. Reviews

Welp. Movies were good. Reviews later. Tonight is a repeat. Watching the movies we didn’t get to watch last night. Only tonight there will be fajitas instead of pizza. Yum. GA’s lotto drawing is also tonight. 117 million. Sounds good. Wish me luck. I know this is brief. Sorry. More later.

Another week gone by. Damn.

Another week gone by. Damn. I wish B&H would ship my damn supplies so I could print portfolio work and start sending’em off to potential jobs. I think this weekend I’ll be able to scan my color and studio negatives so I can at least have them up here on the site. I’ve got quite a bit of homework this week and quite frankly, I’m not interested in doing any of it. Sequential class has become more of a pain in the ass than the fun class I imagined it to be and this first assignment in color is merely a refresher and I could care less. At least this evening will be mildly interesting. We’ve rented a few movies (2 for 1 night at Hollywood Video) and I’m going to order pizza in about an hour, so it should be an interesting night. We got Life as a House, Curse of the Jade Scorpion, The Last Castle and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Jade Scorpion was one I’ve wanted to see for a while, I like Woody Allen for some reason. Life as a House was one that Lauren wanted to see and the other two were mutual. The Last Castle is the Robert Redford flick with the guy from the Suprano’s (James Gandolfini) and Cuckoo’s Nest is simply a classic.

Onto other topics… If you’ve ever downloaded something that was really really mislabled or you’re looking for something but not sure if it’s in “circulation” yet, check out the ISO News. They’ve got constantly updated lists of whats out, whats been leaked and what’s been ripped. They’re no links or hints of where to get anything, but it’s a good starting point.

Also a good starting point is the CPU Price Guide at HardCoreWare. They’ve got weekly updated prices on most major CPUs on the market. A good place to check out if you’re in the market for a new chip or just trying to figure out if you got taken to the cleaners on a price.

That’s about it. Later.

Well, I ended up doing

Well, I ended up doing ok on my test. No major brain farts or anything. As I was finishing the test however, my stomach started to feel funny. A little while later it wasn’t funny anymore and was actually rather upset. I decided to forget about going to Sequential and just head home. I took some Tums and laid down for a while. I’m feeling better now. Actually, I’m getting rather hungry. I’m also really hot. It probably doesn’t help that it’s 90 outside. Nope, not helping at all. In the back of my head I kept thinking about how there’s no air conditioning in the building for Sequential class and how much sitting in a 90 degree sweat box probably wouldn’t help my situation. Oh well.

So, now I’m feeling a little bit better and I’m actually planning dinner. I think I’ll make some chicken and pasta. That sounds tasty. I also picked up a surprise for Lauren at the grocery store. Hehehe.
